The iHeartRadio Music Awards will honor Justin Timberlake with its most
prestigious award of the evening, the 2015 iHeartRadio Innovator Award.
The event will feature the biggest names in entertainment, bringing the
music of the iHeartRadio app to life on Sunday, March 29 live on NBC
from 8-11 p.m. ET/PT from the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles
and hosted by Oscar and Grammy award winning actor and musician, who
will also perform at the awards, Jamie Foxx. The iHeartRadio Music
Awards will broadcast simultaneously on iHeartMedia stations nationwide
and across the iHeartRadio digital music platform.
Only a handful of musicians in history have transcended all artistic
boundaries, whether through music collaborations, acting, comedy,
variety, putting together one of the biggest albums in recent history or
staging the biggest and most technically ambitious tour of the last 2
years. iHeartRadio will honor Grammy and Emmy award winning artist
Justin Timberlake for his unparalleled position in the entertainment
world and will pay tribute to his significant contributions to the music
industry.
Timberlake swept the 2014 Billboard Music Awards taking home
seven Awards including Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Male
Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album and Top
Billboard 200 Album. He also has received three People’s Choice Awards,
three GRAMMY Awards, three ASCAP Awards, a Nickelodeon
Kids Choice Award and a Radio Disney Music Award. These
awards bring his grand total of awards to 25 for The 20\20 Experience
– The Complete Experience since it was released in March 2013.
The 20\20 Experience – The Complete Experience has been
critically well received and was the best-selling album worldwide in
2013. To date it has sold more than 5 million albums and 15 million
tracks. The album celebrates Timberlake as the highest debut for a male
artist in the last six years. The album held the No. 1 spot in both the
Top 200 (three weeks) and R&B album chart (10 weeks). He is one of the
most followed people in the world on social media with a total of more
than 95 million followers across all his platforms.
His extensive entertainment career also includes many film credits such
as the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis; Clint Eastwood’s Trouble with
the Curve; Will Gluck’s Friends with Benefits; Jake Kasdan’s comedy Bad
Teacher; In Time, directed by Andrew Niccol; crime drama Alpha Dog and
Black Snake Moan, writer-director Craig Brewer’s follow-up to his
Sundance hit, Hustle & Flow. The four-time Emmy Award winner has also
hosted five memorable episodes of “Saturday Night Live” and several of
his sketches have become viral video sensations, including “D**k in a
Box,” which not only has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube
but earned Timberlake his first Emmy Award. He won a second Emmy Award
in 2009 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for hosting “SNL.”
"Justin is one of the most dynamic artists of our lifetime, a visionary
whose influence on pop culture starts with brilliant music and stretches
well beyond,” said Tom Poleman, President of National Programming
Platforms for iHeartMedia. “I’m amazed how he regularly breaks barriers
that continue to shape and define music trends. We’re thrilled to
recognize him amongst his peers — who also proudly call themselves
his fans."
"From day one, Justin has been a step ahead; in fact, he refuses to play
it safe," said John Sykes, President of Entertainment Enterprises for
iHeartMedia, Inc. "And even given all his success to date, I think he is
only at the beginning of one of the great careers in entertainment."
"Justin is the World’s undisputed 360-degree entertainer. Put simply,
he's 'The Man.’ We are delighted to give him the honor he deserves,” Ian
Stewart, President, Done + Dusted.
